A Few Thoughts for Friday

Good afternoon all.

I hope you are having as nice a Friday as I am.  I do hope you didn't have to start as early today as I did though.  Jered was kind enough to walk me to the car this morning since last time I kind of freaked myself out on my way.

The younger of the two boys I watch wanted to ride his bike today.  That's wonderful; he's only three.  However, he wanted me to chase him, and this is where the problem starts.  I don't mind playing with him, but I can only imagine how foolish I looked "play-running" with my arms swinging all around my head up and down the sidewalk ten times.

That's my oatmeal casserole.  I wish you could tell how amazing it smelled when I took it out of the oven.

I found another awesome blog.  She refashions tons of clothes.  Basically, she makes from scratch or changes something old to make it into something completely new with everything she wears.  I am seriously addicted to the blog.  It's so interesting and I can't help but get ideas of things I want to try.  It's cottonandcurls.blogspot.com in case you want to check it out.

This is a shot of her and her family after the moved to China!

Well, I don't know if I've ever shared this before... I may have, but I can't remember, and it's always good to hear in my opinion.  It's something Dr. Graddy said in our Renaissance Literature class once.  Isn't it weird that I took multiple classes with him, but I know it was that class because I remember where I was sitting and he was standing when he said it.  It really stood out to me.

Ok- a little background: he was talking about when Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist.  Here's the passage:

 The Baptism of Jesus

13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. 14 But John tried to deter him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?”
15 Jesus replied, “Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John consented.
16 As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. 17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”        Matthew 3:13-17 NIV

What Dr. Graddy told us is very simple: God said, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased."  He said this before Jesus performed any miracles or began his ministry.  He was already well pleased with him.

For the times I fail, or times I let an opportunity pass me by, it's comforting to know that God still loves me and is even well pleased with me, simply because I am His child.

I think that's all I'll say today.  I don't think I can say it any better than that.

I hope you are all having a wonderful Friday and finding lots of blessings to be thankful for during this season!

Talk to you soon!
