What's that? You sense a little extra kick in my step today? Well, you are right! I hope you have some free time on your hands because you're in for a whopper today.
I am sitting at home snacking on a tasty tuna concoction that Jered introduced to me, and listening to classical music, which is making me wish we had already unloaded our car, so I could be watching Phantom of the Opera right now.
Oh yes, we got to visit my family last weekend over Jered's fall break, which he graciously extended so we could spend an extra afternoon with my Katie. It was lovely being back. The smells, the space, the water... not having to cook. Boy, the little things you take for granted, huh?
Whew, and leave and cleave? That's all fine and dandy, but I sure did miss mi familia. Dad bought pumpkins for Katie, Katita, and me to decorate/carve. Kate and I opted for painting, while Tita bravely took on the carving knife.
We had a fun afternoon creating those, although we watched an unfortunate movie. Sorry Mr. Depp, you know I love you, but Dark Shadows? Wow. Don't waste your precious dollars on that one.
Jered got to do some hunting with Dad too. Aren't they adorable?
In other Jered-related news, I came home from running an errand yesterday (maybe more on that later), to a spotless apartment. Complete with clean kitchen, emptied garbage cans throughout the apartment, and fresh groceries. He even bought Oreos! Why yes, I do have the best husband ever!
It could also have been payback for watching five football games on Saturday... Shocking, I know. We flipped back and forth among three games at once that afternoon. Get this- pouring down rain at all three games, and all of them consisted of one team in a wet navy or black and gold or yellow, and the second team in white with either a little red or orange on their helmets. I could not keep them straight for the life of me... but I sure tried.
Anyway, enjoying my sparkling kitchen, I went on to make some delicious, if I may say so myself, pancakes from scratch and sausage patties, and we enjoyed breakfast for dinner.
On the menu tonight: a chicken, vegetable, and rice soup I've devised with some chicken seasoning, garlic, and lemon pepper... I'll let you know how that goes...
So, I just finished my next book. It took much longer than my last two... and it's shorter. Warning: here comes your unrequested book review. I grabbed this book after quickly reading the inside of the cover as Jered tried to rush me out of the library one night. It's by Nancy Grace, who is apparently a New York Time's bestseller, at least that's what the cover says. I just thought she was a someone from political TV. Shows you how much I know.
Anyway, The Eleventh Victim had six typos... that I found. Who does her editing, I wonder? Six typos in a mere 350 pages seem a bit much to me. If you're going to get paid to proofread, do it well. Am I right? Now, don't go combing my blog for typos and misspellings. You will find some. Maybe even in this letter. However, this is a blog, not a bestseller.
Ok, now that I'm off my English soap box, on to the story. Blek. Murder mystery- that's fine. I enjoy that. But then there was another story line that was just barely, and I mean barely, connected to the main story- which is why it took me forever to dig into it. I really have no idea what it was doing in the book, other than to take up pages. Then, adding to my frustration in this matter, a gaaaaping hole was left in the main story's plot at the end.
All of that could have been simply stated, if I were less talkative, as: Don't bother with The Eleventh Victim. You can find better. I promise. Of course, that's just my opinion.
I did have some more serious stuffing for this little letter of mine, but I think I'll save that for the next one. I've said alot already, and I don't want your eyes to weary! So stay tuned!
Aim
I enjoyed your updates! Sorry I missed seeing you when you came to town. I saw Jered at church but our paths didn't cross.
